 Apa itu teknik Sublim dalam dunia percetakan?

What is the sublime technique in the printing world? 

Sublim berasal dari kata Sublimasi yang artinya perubahan dari zat padat menjadi uap. Contohnya seperti batu es yang menguap dengan suhu tinggi, tanpa harus mencair.

Sublime comes from the word "sublimation," which means the change from a solid to a vapor. For example, ice cubes evaporate at high temperatures without melting.

Sama seperti teknik sublim yang kali ini kita bahas.

Yaitu merubah zat padat(tinta) yang dipress dengan suhu tinggi, tanpa harus mencairkan tinta itu sendiri. (Pada dasarnya tinta itu berbentuk cair).

Ingat, tidak semua tinta cetak bisa digunakan untuk proses sublimasi ini. Biasanya jenis tinta yang sudah dikombinasikan dengan bahan(chemical) tertentu.

This involves converting a solid substance (ink) by pressing it at high temperatures, without having to liquefy the ink itself. (Ink is essentially a liquid.) 

Remember, not all printing inks can be used in this sublimation process. Usually, the ink used is a combination of certain chemicals.

Apa saja yang dibutuhkan untuk proses Sublim?

1. Printer, disarankan printer jenis laser jet.

2. Tinta, disarankan tinta berbasis minyak atau bubuk.

3. Kertas, kertas khusus sublim, atau kertas biasa namun dikombinasikan dengan bahan(chemical) sublim cair. Pakai kertas hvs juga bisa, tapi hasil sedikit samar samar. Disarankan menggunakan plastik stiker transparant. Dan tentunya gambar yang sudah di desain menggunakan coreldraw, atau desain menggunakan photoshop.

What is needed for the sublimation process? 

1. Printer, preferably a laserjet printer. 

2. Ink, preferably oil-based or powder-based ink. 

3. Paper, either special sublimation paper, or regular paper combined with a liquid sublimation chemical. HVS paper is also possible, but the results will be slightly faint. Transparent plastic stickers are recommended. And of course, an image designed in CorelDraw or Photoshop. 

4. Heat press machine. 

5. T-shirt

Proses dengan menggunakan bahan(chemical) sublim cair.

The process uses liquid sublimation chemicals.

1. Print desain yang sudah kamu buat.

1. Print the design you've created.

2. Semprotkan bahan(chemical) sublim cair pada kaos hingga merata.

2. Spray the liquid sublimation chemical onto the t-shirt until it is evenly distributed.

3. Panaskan mesin hot press 160°C, kemudian letakan kaos yang sudah dilumuri bahan(chemical) tadi, press selama 20 detik. Agar chemical menyatu dengan kain.

4. Letakan kertas yang sudah diprint tadi. Ingat letakan terbalik ya, seperti gambar dibawah.

3. Preheat the heat press to 160°C, then place the t-shirt coated with the chemical on it and press for 20 seconds. This will allow the chemical to bond with the fabric. 

4. Place the printed paper on the heat press. Remember to place it upside down, as shown below.

Kemudian letakan lagi kain, agar kertas tidak bergeser.

5. Naikkan suhu menjadi 190°C, kemudian press selama 20 detik, sebanyak 2 kali.

6. Jika sudah 2 kali kamu press, angkat kertas secara perlahan.

Then, place the cloth back down to prevent the paper from shifting. 

5. Increase the temperature to 190°C, then press for 20 seconds, twice. 

6. After pressing twice, slowly lift the paper.

Selesai

Oya.. untuk teknik cetak seperti ini, hanya cocok diaplikasikan di bahan kain yang berwarna terang.

by the way, this printing technique is only suitable for light-colored fabrics.
