Stamping Foil

Foil stamping, (juga dikenal sebagai "aplikasi foil") biasanya digunakan untuk proses pencetakan komersial, stamping foil adalah aplikasi foil logam (logam berpigmen) pada permukaan padat dengan aplikasi die(panas), dipress dan dipanaskan antara "bahan-chemical(dalam bentuk desain/gambar)-foil", secara permanen melekat ke permukaan di bawahnya sehingga meninggalkan desain yang sebelumnya dibuat pada permukaannya.

Foil stamping, (also known as "foil application") is usually used for commercial printing processes, foil stamping is the application of metal foil (pigmented metal) on a solid surface by the application of a die (hot), pressed and heated between "chemical-material (in the form of a design/image)-foil", permanently adhered to the underlying surface thereby leaving a previously created design on the surface.

Gunakan software berbasis vektor seperti CorelDraw dan jenis kertas laser, agar lebih mudah dalam proses afdruk film.

Sebagai contoh, buat kotak nama seperti gambar diatas.

Use vector-based software like CorelDraw and laser paper to simplify the film printing process. 

Open CorelDraw. 

For example, create a name box like the image above.

Membuat kotak nama pada cover depan undangan

1. Pilih Rectangle Tool(F6)
2. Atur ukuran sesuaikan dengan ukuran undangan
3. Ketebalan garis persegi
4. Atur lengkungan dari setiap sudut persegi (semakin tinggi nilai maka semakin melengkung)

Save as lalu printout (paper transparant)

Setelah di printout, yang dibutuhkan adalah sebuah film untuk mencetak gambar yang tadi kamu desain.

Setelah film sablon sudah jadi, selanjutnya ikuti langkah dibawah ini,

Tuang chemical, disini menggunakan jenis plastisol(berbasis minyak yang nantinya sangat baik dalam proses press (pemanasan) juga daya lekat yang lebih baik atau lem stiker(berbasis air). Bisa tanya ke penjual bahan khusus untuk proses stamping, karena setiap bahan(chemical) memiliki cara kerja berbeda.

Tuang chemical diatas screen, sapu hingga beberapa kali.

Create a name box on the front cover of the invitation 

1. Select the Rectangle Tool (F6) 

2. Adjust the size to match the size of the invitation 

3. Adjust the thickness of the rectangular lines 

4. Adjust the curvature of each corner of the rectangle (the higher the value, the more curved) 

Save as and then print (transparent paper) 

After printing, you'll need a film to print the image you designed.

Once the screen printing film is ready, follow the steps below: 

Place the invitation paper on the screen printing table. 

Pour the chemical. Here, I'll use plastisol (oil-based, which is excellent for pressing (heating) and provides better adhesion), or sticker glue (water-based). Consult a supplier specializing in stamping materials, as each chemical works differently. 

Pour the chemical onto the screen and sweep it several times.

Keringkan, (hairdryer biasa, tidak cukup panas, gunakan hotgun)

Dry it (a regular hairdryer is not hot enough, use a hotgun)

Setelah agak mengering, press 10-20 detik dengan suhu rendah. (foil tidak cukup kuat menahan panas)

Once it's slightly dry, press for 10-20 seconds at a low temperature. (Foil isn't strong enough to withstand the heat.)

Angkat, lalu sapu dengan kain agar panas perlahan menurun.
Jika sudah mulai dingin, foil sudah bisa dilepas.

Ada banyak cara dalam proses stamping ini. Ada juga dengan tujuan membuat huruf/gambar timbul, ada 2 tahap, yaitu membuat gambar timbul terlebih dahulu dengan cara press kertas undangan dengan cetakan (resin silicon) yg sudah dioles dengan chemical, lalu stamping kertas undangan tadi dengan foil (untuk chemical kertas undangan biasa menggunakan lem).

Lift it out and wipe it with a cloth to slowly reduce the heat. 

Once it has cooled, the foil can be removed. 

There are many methods for this stamping process. Some also use it to create raised letters or images. There are two stages: first creating the raised image by pressing the invitation paper with a mold (silicon resin) coated with a chemical, then stamping the invitation paper with foil (for chemical invitation paper, glue is used).
